C-Suite panel of local women share their success stories of breaking the glass ceiling in commercial real estate

January 10, 2018 by Crew PBTC

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL – January 10, 2018 – Crew Palm Beach/Treasure Coast kicked off the year with a full house at their first program in 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel.

A panel of three local women who have worked their way up through the ranks in commercial real estate, a male-dominated industry, shared their stories of successes, feats and struggles.

Stephanie Rodriguez, Vice President of Leasing for Duke Realty talked about how changing areas of focus within the industry caused her to have to prove herself all over again. Rodriguez was determined to learn everything she could in order to be the best version of herself. Stephanie referenced starting at the bottom and working her way up gave her the most satisfaction of feeling as if she had accomplished success.

Laura King, Senior Vice President, Manager of Commercial Banking for First Citizens Bank, talked about her failures of not getting the job she thought would catapult her into her what she viewed as success. King said it was that moment that she realized she must put her nose to the grind and learn all she can to prove she was as valuable as she knew she could be. Her moment of success came with her next promotion, which was even bigger than the original one she wanted.

Luanne Lenberg, Senior Vice President for Penn-Florida, spoke to her experience throughout the years of also having to prove herself and her abilities from the ground up. Lenberg talked about one experience in particular where she wanted to apply for a job in a different market and was told she wasn’t the right fit before even interviewing. She convinced them to give her an opportunity to interview and she landed the job. Lenberg noted that this was when she knew she was right for the commercial real estate industry.

“Our panel of ladies were amazing,” says Tara England, Programs Chair for CREW Palm Beach Treasure Coast, “Their stories were uplifting and resonated with our members.”
