WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. (April 14, 2016) The Lord’s Place recently held their tenth annual SleepOut event to help raise money and awareness for the homeless in Palm Beach County. First Citizens Bank worked hand-in-hand with the organization to help increase awareness and fundraising efforts.
Traditionally participants for this event would bring their sleeping bags to the United Methodist Church of the Palm Beaches and SleepOut to help bring awareness and raise money for the homeless. This year, they are again including their newest twist, SleepIn. This added option was designed to create the possibility for those that wanted to participate the opportunity to do so from home. Whether in their own back yard or inside their homes, residents all across Palm Beach County pulled together again this year to help this cause.
First Citizens Bank helped bring awareness and further contributed by raising money. “We are so excited to be involved with such a great organization”, said Laura King, VP First Citizens Bank. “We are so proud of the work The Lord’s Place does for our Palm Beach County residents.”
In years past the event was designated as one particular night at the church, and this year with the added SleepIn, the event lasted for one entire month, opening up more possibilities for fundraising and awareness.
“Laura King and Scott Powers, along with First Citizens Bank have been such a pleasure to work with,” says Diana Stanley, CEO of The Lord’s Place. “They have been by our side cheering us on every step of the way.”
The Lord’s Place surpassed its goal and raised upwards of $600,000, much in part due to a private donor who matched a large portion of the donations. The money that was raised this and each year help The Lord’s Place make huge strides on breaking the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County.
